As the summer comes to an end, some lucky students are still enjoying nature in southern Utah as part of our Living Classrooms program, developing skills in the arts AND sciences.
For two hours each week, seventh graders from La Pine Intermediate School have traveled with their teachers to the region’s national parks as part of their science curriculum. By taking the classroom outside, the students have been able to enjoy hands-on lessons about the water cycle, soil structure and desert plants and wildlife.
As an added bonus, the arts instructor from La Pine, Mrs. Smithson, has also been traveling along with the group. She partnered up with our very own Terry Teacher to teach nature journaling and photography skills in conjunction with the group’s science lessons. What a great idea!
Here are some recent photos from the students as they explore this beautiful place.
